A CALISTOGA WEDDING

Lisa Ray & Jason Dehni wanted to marry in Napa Valley with the backdrop of a fall sun drenched vineyard (where they were Engaged). A wedding venue that felt intimate and olde-world was important to the couple. Equally important were the vi-brant colors of their cultures and seen in their travels; reds, golds, creams and greens, rich textures and aromatic dishes. Design Challenge: To incorporate her Hindu Bengali cultural elements and love of traditional cuisines (She was the host of Top Chef Canada, as well as a international celebrity/acting) with his Lebonese roots AND their love of travel and fine din-ing. NO PROBLEM!

We kicked off a sensory weekend with a Sangeet at the Calistoga Ranch where bellydancers energized the party and Henna artists adorned the ladies (photo attached). Lisa wore a sensational Anarkali dress by Tarun Tahiliani for the Sangeet. The wedding gown and saree were designed by acclaimed Wendell Rodricks. The wedding was held at The Harvest Inn, St Helena, CA. Showcasing the couples love of food and family was to be the cornerstone as aromatic platters of Biriyani and Fattoush were passed around in the glow of soft candlelight and festoon lights. Executive Chef Bruce Riezenman (Park Avenue Catering) Lisa wanted to keep design touches minimal yet deliberate. We were able to achieve and intimate experience by seating guests at long communal style dining tables draped in ivory linen and vineyard chairs and low-laying florals featuring an array of spice tones like Turmeric, Saffron, Cardamom and playful fiddlehead by Napa floral designer, Fleurs de France. The infectious swells of internationally celebrated Tabla artist, Suphala, transported guests to Lisa’s Bengali roots throughout dinner. Amassing the right service partners were crucial in striking the right sensory cords. Feature performers entertained the guests long after the sun went down.
